Nestled in the heart of Somerset, our civil parish encompasses the historic village of Mells and the hamlet of Vobster. This is an area of profound natural beauty and heritage, from the renowned Mells Manor to the serene Mells River. Our community draws on this rich history to foster a supportive and vibrant environment for all residents.

Mells is a historic and beautiful village, with the church at its heart. It is a Grade 1 listed C15th featuring a Norman Font, Marble Altar, 1446 Tower with Ring of 8 bells and 1880 Pipe Organ and Inside the church is a Munnings’ bronze of Edward Horner on Lutyens base.

Ronald Knox and Siegfried Sassoon are buried in churchyard.

The Walled Garden at Mells is home to a carefully curated plant nursery, a shop specialising in unique gifts and artisanal treasures for home and garden, and a wonderful cafe offering a seasonal menu of delicious food to sit and enjoy whilst surrounded by flowers, trees, birdsong and unencumbered views of the beautiful Somerset countryside.

Established in 1480, The Talbot Inn is a traditional yet stylish coaching inn located in the historic village of Mells in the beautiful Somerset countryside.

World-class wines, traditional local ales, including Talbot Ale, and classic cocktails can be enjoyed at the Pub. Beer is supplied by local breweries, gin from local distilleries and wine from our own Beckford Bottle Shop, located just twenty minutes from the pub in the beautiful city of Bath.

Talented chefs are committed to utilising the abundance of seasonal produce surrounding The Talbot. Meat and game from local farms, fish from the Cornwall coast and fresh leaves picked just a few steps away in The Talbot Kitchen Garden. For those looking for something a little lighter, the bar is also kept well-stocked with delicious snacks that are available throughout the day.
