Mells Café

The award-winning Mells Café is attached to the village shop and was opened by Great British Bake Off star Mary Berry in  2011 and became an immediate success,  serving freshly-cooked food to local residents, visitors, walkers and cyclists , 7 days a week, all-year round.

“Somerset’s hidden gem!

Fabulous service, freshly made everything – stupendous salads / sides to the most-tasty mains, everything from Paninis and bacon butties to the most gloriously delicious home-made cakes. And the freshly ground coffee is to die for! …. a memorable and relaxing break….I always look forward to going back! Again, and again!! With free wifi, it’s the perfect spot for brunch, lunch or afternoon tea while catching up on the world on my tablet.”

Charlie Rowsell – Manager & Chef

Volunteers Needed!

The Mells Café would not survive without our volunteer helpers who provide everyday support for Charlie and her support cooks. Some are experienced cooks themselves and others eager helpers, but all work short 2-3 hours shifts alongside paid members of staff and receive full training. Keeping a café open 7 days a week, almost 365 days a year, is an intensive job and we always need more volunteers. If you'd like to join us, have some fun and meet lots of new people, please contact Charlie at the Café (01373 812251) or David Szymanski, Committee Chairman (07540 280660) or fill in the form below: Volunteer Form
